Cuba dona 2.000 vacunas contra la fiebre amarilla a Colombia en medio de brote mortal

El gobierno de Cuba ha anunciado la donación de 2.000 dosis de la vacuna contra la fiebre amarilla a Colombia, como gesto solidario ante el brote que enfrenta el país y que ha cobrado al menos 33 vidas desde 2024.

El foco principal de la emergencia sanitaria se encuentra en el departamento del Tolima, que concentra el 74 % de los casos confirmados. La enfermedad, transmitida por mosquitos, tiene una tasa de letalidad cercana al 50 % y ha afectado a personas entre los 11 y los 89 años.

Frente a esta situación, el Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social ha reforzado las campañas de vacunación, extendiendo la cobertura a adultos mayores de 60 años y aplicando más de 54.000 dosis en municipios de alto riesgo.

La donación cubana se suma a los esfuerzos regionales liderados por la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), que ha facilitado la adquisición de 1,3 millones de dosis y apoyado la descentralización del diagnóstico molecular en laboratorios departamentales.
