Tal como le confirmaron fuentes de la Casa de Nariño el pasado sábado 22 de febrero, Armando Benedetti será el nuevo ministro del Interior del Gobierno del presidente Gustavo Petro.
La información se confirmó oficialmente en la noche de este lunes, 24 de febrero, después de que su hoja de vida fuera publicada en la página web de la Presidencia de la República.
Se trata de un paso que indica que su nombramiento es inminente y que su designación se encuentra en proceso. El único paso restante es la publicación del decreto que oficializará su designación.
Benedetti será el cuarto ministro del Interior del Gobierno del presidente Petro, cartera que también estuvo en manos de Alfonso Prada, Luis Fernando Velasco y, más recientemente, de Juan Fernando Cristo.
Benedetti, por su parte, asumirá su quinto cargo dentro del Ejecutivo del actual mandatario. Desde que Petro llegó a la presidencia, Benedetti se ha desempeñado como embajador de Colombia en Venezuela, jefe de misión diplomática de la FAO en Italia y asesor de Presidencia en temas legislativos.
