William Alejandro Morales Lucio, de solo 12 años, tiene un cáncer terminal que no le ha impedido seguir soñando en grande. Este paciente oncológico, hijo de un soldado profesional de Colombia, anhelaba poder vivir la experiencia de la vida militar desde uno de sus imponentes helicópteros, un deseo que el Ejército decidió cumplirle.
El 15 de febrero de 2025 se conmemoró el Día Internacional de la Lucha Contra el Cáncer Infantil, una iniciativa que busca visibilizar los retos que afrontan los pacientes que enfrentan esta enfermedad a tan temprana edad.
De acuerdo a los registros de la Cuenta de Alto Costo, al 31 de diciembre del año pasado se atendieron en el sistema de atención en salud más de 13 mil casos de menores con estos padecimientos.

Como parte del Día Mundial del Cáncer Infantil, la Tercera División del Ejército Nacional de Colombia compartió el caso de William Alejandro Morales Lucio, un niño que, pese a su diagnóstico, no ha puesto límites a sus sueños.
A su corta edad, William Alejandro ya expreso que quisiera algún día poder ser militar, una labor que también ejerce su padre. Una de las cosas que más le llamaba la atención era poder volar en uno de los helicópteros del Ejército, por lo cual las fuerzas militares se pusieron la tarea de darle una experiencia que nunca pudiera olvidar.
